AUMUND:

Delivery of equipment to Fujairah Cement and Hamriyah Cement (UAE) by the end of this year

In November 2007, AUMUND Fördertechnik GmbH will deliver - via Polysius - various machines to be installed in the clinker production line of Fujairah Cement Industries in the United Arab Emirates. The new production line with its capacity of 7,500 tons per day will be erected beside the existing kiln line which has been using AUMUND equipment for several years now. Already in September 2007, AUMUND provided machines for a new grinding plant at Hamriyah Cement.

Today, the cement industry -in addition to the crude oil and natural gas production- is one of the basic pillars of the economy in the United Arab Emirates, where presently more than eleven million tons of cement are produced. According to reports from the industry, this figure will soon reach 14 up to 15 million tons. By erecting a new grinding plant in the Hamriyah Free Zone and various extension projects, investors like Al Ruya take this growth into account.

For the new clinker production line at Fujairah Cement Industries, the German company supplies two AUMUND bucket elevators with central chain (BW-Z) which offer a lifting height of 28 and 39 m, respectively, at a conveying capacity of 600 and 680 t/h. These machines will be used to transport the limestone to the raw mill. Then, two AUMUND belt bucket elevators (BW-G) will convey the raw meal to the preheater tower over a lifting height of 92 and 120 m, respectively. The clinker transport from the cooler to the clinker silo will be handled by two AUMUND deep-drawn pan conveyors (KZB 1000/400/4). The conveyors will feature a center distance of 239 m and 103 m and operate at a conveying capacity of 450 t/h. Two telescopic chutes with a lifting range of 3400 mm and a conveying capacity of up to 350 t/h will load the clinker onto trucks. Furthermore, the scope of delivery also includes two LOUISE drag chain conveyors (TKF 500/1) for the transport of filter dust (conveying capacity of 42 t/h).

The Hamriyah Free Zone is one of the fastest growing regions in the Middle East, accommodating more than 1100 enterprises from 87 countries. The clinker for the cement production in Hamriyah arrives from Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah, and the cement is destined for export as well as for meeting the local demand. The plant is reckoned to be completed by the beginning of 2008. In the new cement grinding plant Hamriyah Cement, in future a Samson® (10 m center distance, 600 t/h conveying capacity) will transfer the clinker and additives onto an AUMUND bucket elevator with central chain (BW-Z 900) of 600 t/h conveying capacity. The Samson® is a mobile surface feeder which enables short-time buffer storage and controlled bulk material transfer onto subsequent plant components. Thanks to its overground installation, the Samson® represents the flexible alternative to traditional tipping points with underfloor pits. The Samson concept which combines a steel plate conveyor with a flat belt, unites the benefits of a torsion-proof conveying surface with the clean operation of a belt conveyor. In the meantime, the combination of the Samson®, a machine from the British company B&W Mechanical Handling Ltd. which forms part of the AUMUND Group, with an AUMUND bucket elevator has proven worldwide to be a successful solution for the transfer of bulk materials from the truck to the mill.

Another three bucket elevators with central chain and center distances up to 55 m provide for the further transport of raw material and cement. A smaller bucket elevator with central chain (BW-ZL 355/250/4) feeds material to the cement packing plant.
