I’m very pleased to announce that we have introduced a new version of the patented splicing and repair material Multiface®, as required for the repair of conveyor belts in underground coal mines. Like all other types for surface mining, Multiface 1.5 FRAS is a two-component hybrid material in double cartridges with a static mixer for easy use and safe in contrast to all usual repair and filling materials on the market.
Beside the self-extinguishing and antistatic features, this version has an adapted short processing time, while keeping the possibility of making an interruption about one minute during application. It additionally achieves an extreme acceleration of the curing time after the first minute, allowing to get a dry surface after few minutes and to be ready to restart after a very short time:
-No toxic ingredients, no CMR components, no hazard to people, transport and storage
-Compliant with EN 14973 for use underground mines with electrical conductivity < 300 MΩ and self-extinguishing in less than 3 seconds
-Direct adhesion to rubber, PVC, PU, fabric and steel without any primer or contact adhesive/rubber cement
-No primer or contact adhesive / rubber bond required as adhesion promoter for preparation
-Optimized processing time for underground applications, in order to reduce contaminations risks through dust and water/humidity, but with the possibility to make an interruption of about one minute for a comfortable use or to repair several small rips without changing the static mixer
-Long open time and no real overcoating window time as requested for wide surfaces or for long rip repair
-Simplify procedure: roughening the surface, cleaning it with a brush, applying Multiface® and rub it into the pores with a round brush and filling up the damage
-Exothermic reaction to compensate low temperatures
-High resistance to moisture during application
-Less than 10 minutes hardening time
-Final hardness approx. 65 +/- 5 Shore (A)
-High resistance to sulfur acids, acidic water, salt water, alkalis, etc.
-Available in black self-levelling and black thixotropic/non-sag for vertical or over-head applications and grey thixotropic/non-sag
This product allows making a repair and to restart the belt in less than 15-20 minutes including the preparation, by using a simple manual caulking gun, a round brush and a spatula.
