Gel Separation

Posted in: , on 28. Oct. 2009 - 11:14

can anybody help me out on following issue,

i have an assigned a job to separate gel from the water in circular screen machine.

when we are sizing screen for material we are considering its density and size.

but in case of gel we can not find out under-size or oversize value.

also in my preliminary trial i found out that gel does not have any movement on screen.

the requirement is to mix and then after separate material with water to reduce its ph value.

i am attaching video of trial for your referance.

please help me out to solve this issue.

Gel Separation

firstly, sounds semi impossible for starters....

1. gel is gel, it should not pass any opg theoretically

2. gel would be NON FREE-flowing, hence not a good candidate for screening

3. is it being done on a mechanical screener now?

4. thee GEL, is in what format, huge GLOB of material or?

5. how do intend to reduce the PH LEVEL..water will not penetrate gel, will it?

6. Maybe a nice STATIC, STEEP angled stainless steel SIEVE BEND would do it

7. Maybe a density separator may do it.

A perplexing problem....

Make Gel Act Like Hard Particle

Posted on 8. Jan. 2010 - 02:44

Lowering temperature can make a gel act more like a hard particle. In some situations people have taken their solutions almost down to freezing, such as 3 deg C.

Depth filters are much much better than screens at removing gels. Single layer surface filters, such as screens, are the wrong filter material for gels. Examples of depth filter materials are melt-blown polypropylene and sintered metal fiber filter media.

You may want to contact an actual filter company for consultation.

One such company to investigate has a website at www.porvairfiltration.com.
