Hi,
I am currently coordinating the onsite construction of four 250m conveyors (Canada). This is my first time being involved with conveyors and I would like to get some suggestions on some good resources/websites/literature to read so that I may improve my commissioning skills come time, as well as read up on the design fundamentals for conveyors. If you could suggest any particular literature about this, I would greatly appreciate it. I don't mind paying for a good design book or two, but please keep in mind that I will have to pay for these resources on my own (which can get quite costly), so if you know of any free/less expensive resources, I'd like to hear about them too.
Thanks.
try the conveyor equipment manufacturers association on google.
Are the conveyors transfer points or stackers or for stock piles etc.?
If you are overseeing this why haven't the installers given you anything regarding specs and componenents etc.? ■
Re: Conveyor Fundamentals - Design And Commissioning
Dear Mr. Freshman,
It seems you are site in-charge for installation of conveyors. To acquaint yourself about the belt conveyors, you may refer to belt conveyor standards in your country. Such standards will always be there with the manufacturers of belt conveyors with which you are concerned. You may also refer to numerous marketing literature relevant to each of the items in these conveyors. Such marketing literature (leaflet / catalogue) etc. of the item of your belt conveyor will invariably be with the manufacturer, because he has already procured / manufactured. The other option is to purchase the books available in the market, as per your preference and choice. Incidentally, I am also the author of the books mentioned hereunder.

Re: Conveyor Fundamentals - Design And Commissioning
Hi everyone,
Thanks for your good ideas and suggestions...more ideas are appreciated from anyone if you have them.
As for those of you who have responded to my posting...
Mr. Mulani,
Would your book Engineering Science and Application Design for Belt Conveyors be basic enough for me?
Lzaharis,
There are 2 conveyors that transfer to 2 other conveyors which stack.
The installation and operating manuals (which I’m assuming you are calling “specs and componenents”) are to be shipped to me shortly. I was just looking for something to supplement this.
Lyle Brown,
Thanks for the sites...I'll have a look through them shortly. ■
Conveyors Etc.
What is the commodity you are stacking?
Regarding your conveyors; are the stacking conveyors set up with rubber tired wheel drives or is the stacking drive set up with a steel wheel running on a single track mounted on a foundation for the drive wheels?
Is the stacking drive electric over hydraulic or electric-mechanical drive through a gearbox to the wheels with a final chain drive?
Are you set up to use a thrower to increase pile size or is that a non issue?
Also what is the stacking radii of the cone for each piler?
Lastly, why are you not using a suspended/tower mounted tripper belt for takeaway from the main belts? ■
