Design of Screw Conveyor for Cement

Hello,

Please assist me with the following information

I need to manufacture a screw conveyor to transport cement at 120 t/hr.

The screw conveyor will be installed at an angle of 40 degrees and is 6800 mm long inlet to outlet dimension.

The pipe diameter is 275 mm OD.

What size / type motor gearbox do I need and what should the wall thickness of the pipe be.

I dont want to use a center/hangar bearing what should the innner pipe diameter.

Can you also give a sketch of the packing arrangement.

Thanks

Oddette Gaio

google "screw conveyor 101" all the information you need is in there.

Most manufacturers have engineering calculations for sizing HP such as this one.

Dear Mr. Oddette Gaio,

The capacity at which you aim to design the conveyor is 120 TPH. But looking at the diameter which you have proposed to used if only 275 mm that to be 40 degree inclination.

I think the diameter of the screw which you have selected is very less. Also check the speed of the screw which you have selected. The filling factor will also reduce considerably if the screw conveyor is inclined (will be 30% only)

For the selection of the center pipe follow the basic calculations for the deflection.
