Sand Conveying Inquiry

Posted in: , on 31. Dec. 2009 - 03:02

Dear all,

I need to convey sand.

Length(H) approx. 10m; Length(V) approx. 20m; no. of 90-deg bends is 4.

capability: 10t/h

Consider the high density of sand, I think pressure vessel conveying is available.

Can you help to estimate the compressor(pressure & volume) & pressure vessel size?

Thanks for all my friends help!

you have posted this before on the forum if my memory serves me:

you have given us very little information.

You can go to the whirl air web site and get all your questions answered for batch flow/pressure vessel delivery examples.

Moving sand with thirty meters of pipe and 4 ninety degree bends is possible to do and the elbows require a lot of energy to overcome the resistance encountered with the bends also reduces the flow due simply to the elbows creating a restriction as the sand is banging into every elbow with the air trying to move it.

Do you know if you want dense phase or dilute phase conveying?

Do you really need the elbows in the route? is it at all possible to change the piping route.

What size pipe diameter is desired, 3 inch, 4 inch, 6 inch?

what type of sand?

green sand

silica sand

casting sand

sea sand

asphault make up sand

stone dust sand

fine mason sand from bank run gravel

concrete sand from bank run gravel

wet sand, how wet?

dry sand, how dry?

how much debris if any in the sand?

if you expect to use that route you need to contact a builder-distributor of pnuematic conveying systems, My dear friend teus will help you too.
