Dear Mr. Agrawal,

Please tell us if you are wishing to obtain a feasibility level quotation or turnkey quotation.

What level of accuracy do you wish?

A meaningful quotation will address the terrain obstacles, structural bridges and earthworks cost optimization. Civil engineering can be equal to or greater than the equipment supply costs. What does the terrain look like? Do you have a digitial map of the alternative routes?

What are the overland conveyor earth coordinates at tail and head stations? Maybe we can see the terrain on Google earth maps.

Any chance you will answer the 14 queries I noted above?

Sir,

As Mr.Norbell has ventured in it we should be cautious on any comment as he is the ultimate, the best in this field, however just for curiosity we would like to know :1)that in your specification Option-1 1200B/W Lump size 600mm,1500TPH. is the B/W adequate enough to the TPH handled.2) have u ever thought about a Hyd.Drive sym. if your budget permits it will be the best option .M/S Hugglunds Drive have the best solution for this kind of application.

Long Distance Conveyors

Posted on 23. Dec. 2009 - 04:57

Greetings,

Thank you for the invitation to bid on the long distance conveyors.

We are an engineering consulting firm, and do not directly supply equipment. However, we can be responsible for arranging the project, i.e. coordinating with equipment supply vendor for supply of all conveyors.

We can be responsible for design of hoppers, bins, chutes, civil design of pedestals, structural design of truss work, and general project coordination (as specified above).

Please advise if this is acceptable, at which point we will proceed with providing a proposal and pricing.

Re: Long Distance Conveyor Requirement

Dear Mr. K.K. Agrawal

Senior Vice President

Oswal Chemicals & Fertilizers Ltd

Conveyor Dynamics, Inc. (CDI) has been doing significant business in Indonesia and wish to be considered as a designer/supplier for your significant project. We have designed many over 5 km in Indonesia.

Items not furnished with the noted list are:

1. General arrangements you contemplate with routing details such as roads, water crossings, soil bearing limits (swamp lands, et al), plans and elevations.

2. Noting the very large lump size at 600 mm. Have you considered the impact of precrushing the largest lump to ~ 200mm in order to reduce the capital cost of the conveyor over 5 km?

3. Overburden physical specifications on density, moisture and lump size

4. Please elaborate on the meaning of your item 4. Does this mean the Vendor must grade the earthworks and then provide the concrete sleepers or piles to meet 300mm conveyor steel vertical support above the concrete footing? A sketch would clear up this detail.

5. There are many missing components in your request list that normally makeup a turnkey package. Who is responsible for the missing items?

6. What does the sentence mean: "The above material is intended to procured for export to Indonesia." What do you wish to be of Indonesian content?

7. Can we assume that prior technical knowhow can be applied for this project to minimize the project capital and operating cost?

8. What will be the mine service life? Expected maintenance support service?

9. Who is responsible for elevated structures? Lighting? Horns? Protective equipment? Vulcanizing? etc.

10. What is the project schedule?

11. When will an order be placed?

12. Is this a feasibility study to obtain rough quotation of the overland costs? There is too much detail missing to offer a competitive bid, without stating multiple clauses to a bid. We all wish to offer the best price. What tools will you use to evaluate the bids? Capital Price? Performance? Life? Maintenance and Reliability? Schedule? Total Life Cycle Cost over 15 years?

13. What are the perceived or necessary restrictions to the Vendor?

14. Who will evaluate the bids?
