I am a consultant and I have experience with EAFD.

In what country are you proposing to handle EAFD? Is EAFD considered a hazardous material where you are? It probably is. In the US, EAFD is considered a hazardous material (#K061). If I remember correct, normal allowable EPA discharge levels do not apply with electric arc furnace dust. EAFD is very high in zinc from galvanized coatings that burn off during the recycling process. I worked on a full feesibility study & FEED for ZincOx a long time ago to remove the zinc from the dust and render the byproduct stabled for easy disposal. If I remember right we had to install special sensors to ensure we were not receiving radionactive EAFD which is also pretty common occurance I am told. I am not sure how the radioactivity is introduced. The project never came to fruition. Any fan discharging to the environment should to be equiped with HEPA filters. Any buildings storing EAFD must be kept negative at all times. Once you have stabilized EAFD then this is different but normally by then it is no longer a dust.

There is a right way and a wrong way to handle EAFD. The proper way is not cheap.

Sorry forgot to add

Any engineering firm that has perfomed engineering for steel mills, in particular those that recyce large amounts for steel with have experience with handling EAFD at high temperatures in full process baghouses. Small dust collector design on transfer points should not be a problem for them.

Your EAFD supplier probably uses one or two firms like this.
