Big bag and bulk container

Posted in: , on 31. Oct. 2006 - 18:00

We are looking for the packaging options to ship bulk wood pellets overseas. The system has to be able to handle 5TPH rate. The end product has to be isolated from the moisture.

I heard there's technology available to pack bulk wood pellets directly into 20 or 40 feet standard containers. Who is dealing with this in N.America?

What is the approximate cost of big-bag packaging unit and the cost of packaging per 1000 kg?

Looking forward to your comments and possibly offers.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Regards,

Serge N.

The machine you are referring to is the Container Loader System manufactured by Stock (in the USA) and Stock Redler (in the UK).

This will load either lined or unlined 20' / 40' containers by throwing the pellets using a high speed belt. Instantaneous loading rates are up to 100 Te/hr so this will easily meet your requirements. The pellets can be protected from moisture by using a plastic liner that is hung inside the container - these are readily available as the practice is common for polymers and foodstuffs. This means you only have one "big bag" - the size of the container - rather than many 1Te bags.

We have recent experience of handling wood pellets in this way. If you would like more information check the Stock website - http://www.stockequipment.com and contact my colleague Simon Shipp in the USA

Roncuzzi have over 100 years experience in bulk handling plants and machineries.

This also include turn-key plants or "simply" shiploaders machined for "special products" like wood pellets (or bio-mass).

Roncuzzi have been also designed and get approved the complete masterplant for the a new shipping terminal in North Europe, specializd only in shipping over 25000 dwt wood chip pellets to be exported within all Europe.

Conditions and Specifications was very tight since temperature occasionally raise -45°, receiving materials within 20 days and "demourage time" only of 2 days.

Also fire protection of the storage and conveyor, "first-in first-out" concept applicable, possibility to increase the storage as well as the loading portion of the plant, possibility to operate indippendently (only receiving, only loading or both common combined).

More important is the fulfillment of the most important requirements....Dust. all the plant will grant the minimum deterioration of the goods in order to be accepted by the most important End user in Europe (like Enel, Tractebel, Endesa, EDF....)

Geoty Container Liners- Packacking Solution

Posted on 7. Dec. 2006 - 10:22

The best packaging and shipping solution would be to ship the pellets in a container liner. Our container liners are usually made of woven coated PP and we have a special installation sytem that enables to install the liner very quickly into the container which saves both time and money. In order to protect the pellets against humidity there is an option of a container liner made of woven coated PP with an inner liner made of PE which gives 100% protection against moisture.

Please visit our website in order to see how you can save costs in shipping in container liners, pictures and a demo movie.

Serge N.

Are you still looking for a solution to your shipping problem? I have seen simple, gravity-fed, container loading systems which would work for your application .... with a suitable liner, of course. We would be glad to work with you on a pellet container loading system.

Filling Pellets Into Containers Already On A Train?

Posted on 7. Dec. 2012 - 07:46

Hello,

I'm based in northern Canada - we're looking for ways to deliver wood pellets to small communities with minimal port facilities - so containers would be perfect.

Just wondering about the easiest way to fill the containers? There are pellet mills in British Columbia that fill grain cars right at the mill - is it possible to fill containers with the same equipment?

It would be easy enough if there was a hole in top of the container, but I am guessing that cutting holes in containers is not allowed?
