Re: Moisture Meter For Kaolin Clay Cake & Pellets

Dear Gullus,

Arizona Instrument LLC manufactures the Computrac MAX 4000XL Moisture Analyzer, which can be used to measure the moisture content of your kaolin cake and pellets. Some of the main features and benefits of the Computrac MAX 4000XL:

- Fast test times in less than 5 minutes per sample

- Accuracy and precision comparable or better than the standard oven method

- Easy to use, push-button operation

- Color LCD menu interface with graphing function for detailed results analysis

- USB and Ethernet ports for data downloading and printing

- Low consumable costs

- Minimal maintenance required

- Durable construction, can be used in a production/manufacturing environment

The cakes and pellets will need some preparation prior to testing. In order to achieve fast test times and consistent results, you will need to grind the samples into powder form to maximize surface area. Some of our current customers can achieve results in about 2 minutes.

If you are interested, please feel free to visit our website at www.azic.com. You can request more information via our website or you can contact me directly.

Best Regards,

We need to measure moisture content of kaolin cake and pellets. The cake is minimum 30mm thick and the pellets 10mm thick. Anybody with an appropriate moisture meter?

Hello Gullus

Process Sensors is a company that manufactures a Near Infrared on-line moisure sensor. We have sold many gauges to measure pellets and crushed cake at Immerys. As I am not aware of where you are located in the world, I cannot send you a priced quotation, but I am attaching an electronic brochure and a sample quote without pricing. If you are interested in talking further, please let me know further details as to which Country you are in so I can provide a quotation.

Microwave Moisture Measurement

Posted on 18. Aug. 2009 - 02:32

Dear Gullus,

if you are interested in getting the measuring results online, I would recommend to take a Microwave moisture system.

The company Berthold Technologies e.g. is providing online Microwave moisture meters for approx. 20 years now and offers very reliable and individual project support.

The big advantage: The Microwave system from Berthold is working non-contacting -> wear and tear is not a topic.

Moreover the measurement is independent from colour, viscosity and temperature of the measured product. The systems don't require any maintenance and due to transmission of the whole cross-section, the measurement is very representative.

For more information please have a look at www.Berthold.com/pc

or send your application details to industry@Berthold.com

Best regards

Dear Gullus,

for online measurements we suggest a our microwave transmission instrument PMD 2450. which works contactless. It measures attenuation and phaseshift, use the multifrequency technique and has specific features to measure pellets or larger particles.

Indutech´s engineers are incolved in microwave moisture measurements since more than 35 years and they developed in the 1970th the used technology. This guarantees best support and individual consulting.

The microwave phase measurement is high sensitive to water and less sensitive to several disturbing parameters, as colour. The temperature influence is usually low and can be compensated, if necessary.

For more information please have a look at our web site www.indutech.com or contact us directly

Gullus, Callidan Instruments specialises in on-line moisture analysis. Our MoistScan range of on-line analysers use microwave transmission to measure the moisture in the material throughout the entire profile from bottom to top. You can find out more about us at www.callidan.com. We have undertaken numerous applications on Kaolin and similar materals. Notably quite recently we supplied 5 MoistScan MA-500's to a very large Kaolin plant in Brazil. The company decided to purchase our gauges after an exhaustive search of the market place for most appropriate and value of money technology available. I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this with you further. Please feel free to contact me via our website. All you need to do is complete the contact form and it will find its way to me. Kaolin Moisture Analyser

Posted on 17. Apr. 2010 - 06:13

Hi John,

Thanks for the response.

As to the application or our requirements it is as follows:

1. We wet mix the raw kaolin in blungers and pass the slurry through various separation machines - hydrocyclones and vibrating screens. The resulting slurry is then pumped into a holding tank.

2. The slurry is then pumped into filter presses and dewatered resulting in a kaolin cake of unknown moisture content.

- At this stage, we will like to batch measure the moisture content of the kaolin

3. The kaolin cake is then batch dried and pelletised.

- During drying, pelleting and post pelleting, we will also like to determine the moisture content.

Hoping the above is able to assist you in determining an appropriate moisture analyser for our needs.

We believe that a bench or stand alone analyser should be ok.

Looking forward to your responses directly to our e-mail: browtec@yahoo.co.uk

Hi Ben,

Many thanks for your message.

Having studied the products on your company website, we believe the MCT 600 should be adequate for our needs.

However, we will like to discuss this further with you, explain our needs and applications and hopefully between us, decide which of your moisture analysers will be most appropriate to our needs.

Please send your response directly to us at: browtec@yahoo.co.uk
