Batch Blending of Powder into Liquid

Posted in: , on 3. Apr. 2009 - 21:57

We are looking for a solution on how to dispense a power (color dye) into a specific amount of water to prepare an almost air-free tablet coating solution.

The currently in use mixing tank (approx. 100l volume) with a double marine type agitator was modified to a single agitator design to reduce foam creation.

Actual problem is to add the dye powder continuously (screw feeder, vibration feeder or venturi placed into the moving solution e.g.). Has anyone experience with a process like this. Would apreciate kind of information. Thanks in advance!

Use a high shear mixer in place of the standard tank agitator with impeller. No need to add additonal equipment for sow continuous feed of the powder.
