Chain Conveyor Tension

Posted on 16. Jun. 2018 - 03:39

Hello,

In case of chain conveyor, manually operated screw take-up is adequate and is generally used to tighten the chain when need be. The chain stretch is insignificant compared to belt in belt conveyor. Therefore chain conveyor will not have gravity take-up etc. The screw tightening is by judgement or one can use torque wrench.

The drive station is not the ideal place to adjust the chain length. Actuation of the drive is what adjusts the tension.

Altering the chain length means moving the drive unit in your case.

Why don't chain suppliers offer a pre-tensioning device in the first place?
