Guys,

We're having some issues about returning dust on the belt returns and, at some points along the belt, this dust drops from the belt to the floor, acumulating the dust. The transported material is Alumina.

There's any good practice you guys know about this issue, some scrapping practice, for example?

Thanks,

Luiz

Dust On Return Strand Of Belt Conveyor

Luiz,

Your only real option is belt scrapers on the head pulley. Dust will typically fall off the underside of the return stand at the return idlers otherwise.

Talk to local suppliers of belt scrapers who have experience of alumina (highly abrasive).

Michael Reid.

You need to confirm the source of the dust.

The point of dust shedding should normally be at the earlier return idlers, as Michael Reid says. When it is loosened at the idlers then you have inadequate cleaning.

If the dust comes from inadequate belt cleaning then you have to fit a more suitable cleaner or tighten up on the cleaner maintenance.

If the dust comes from the carryback of settled dust that was generated in the transfer point then you have to improve the extraction and containment system. This latter situation is a possibility but should not present anything more than nuisance dust.
