Re: Abrasion Resisting Material For Coal Handling

Are you looking for a different conveying method from either pneumatic or hydraulic conveying; whichever you are using? At present all we know is that the pipe is lined...on the inside & some coal is being shoved through it somehow.

If I didn't know better, I would think this one was thrown in to open selling pitches on lining materials.

Why Not Carbide

Posted on 5. Jun. 2009 - 09:52

Hello I was just wondering. If the conveyor liners are made from bimetalic which I would assume is Iron bases and their is still an issue with abrasive wear why would someone not try a carbide sleeve for the conveyors.

Is it a cost problem or is it an issue with impact that may cause chipping?

Dear Shri Pradeep Jain,

It seems you are not satisfied with ceramic lining. Other options are steel liner and possibly cast basalt liner.

Possibly you have to also see the friction coefficient of the other liner with respect to the material being conveyed, for its influence on material movement / flow.

Not Un Happy It Could Just Be Better

It is not a matter of being unhappy. In my experience with barrel liners I have found that carbide liners can be aquired for much cheaper than ceramic. Carbide liners with a construction of 88Wc12Co or 90Wc10Ni are very wear resistant with very low friction.
