Vulcanizing kits quality inspection

Posted in: , on 20. Jul. 2017 - 16:15

Dear Experts,

We use vulcanizing kits for cold joint, hot joint for fabric and steel cord belts. Is there any IS or any other standards for these kits ? What are the parameters to be checked while receiving the kits and how to ensure the quality of the kits ?

I heard that the vulcanizing rubber compounds should not restore its original position, if it is stretched. That is, they should not have elasticity. Why is it so ?

Does it mean that the compounds have already got cured and not worthy to be used in hot vulcanizing.

I had been advised to take samples and check with vulcanizing machines. But is time consuming processes and may not meet the actual conditions.

Thank you all and many regards,

S.Ganesh

COLD JOINTS on a steel cord belt. Ouch!!! Maybe they have improved since I was involved.

Any splice kit should be approved by the belt manufacturer so you don't void the belt warranty.

Mr.Gary,

Let me rephrase.

I am interested to ensure the quality and testing methods and their standards of vulcanizing materials used in

1. Cold joint in fabric belts

2. Hot joint in fabric belts

3. Hot joint in steel cord belts.

Hope I am more clear now.

Thanks a lot to all & many regards,
