I was wondering if anyone can advise whether there is a method to quantify energy losses caused by return side belt flap and the additional load this may put on the conveyor drive? The problem I am investigating involves a troughed conveyor of 1.2km length, 1600mm BW steel cord and 30 deg. trough angle. The return side uses straight rolls spaced 2.4m apart. The flap appears severe and occurs along the entire return run. Recommended literature on this subject would also be appreciated. Thank you.
