Posted in: , on 16. Dec. 2008 - 11:58

Hi, where i can download/find guide to design little conveyors?

I need to design conveyors like this:

0-100mt

0-150t/h

1-60mt/minute (1mt/1" max)

0-35° inclination

for this kind of meterial

clay & co with 1,0-2,0t/m3

ALSO I need formula to calcolate the minimum diameter of the drum motor, not watching belt tables but determined with the coefficient of friction (belt/drum).

Here in Italy i never find no one formula for conveyors belt, please help me ;-P

Hi Luca,

The CEMA handbook mentioned is the standard to use. I do not have the latest version but I remember that the earlier models were written in the old legacy North American units; please don't call them "english".

There is a metric copy of the CEMA handbook called "Recommended Practice for Troughed Belt Conveyors" published by the Material Handling Engineers Association perhaps somewhere in the UK. MHEA seem to have changed their address more times than Italy has changed governments and you probably have more chance of finding Osama BL than MHEA. Last time they surfaced was through Dr Harold Wright but links to their website are inactive.

If all fails: message me.

You might just climb towards 35 degrees at the speeds you will be using but I don't think any text will be able to confirm that.

Their units are best described as Imperial as we English metricated in the 1970's

Can't agree it's a metric copy of the CEMA handbook. It's a British handbook on the design of troughed belt conveyors! (perhaps I'm splitting hairs)

Yes Uncle Harold has bowed out, Peter Webster is now the new secretary and this is the link to their web site www.mhea.co.uk
