I've a problem which is as follows:

I'm designing a coal handling system, where in I need to divert coal from 2000 TPH conveyor (coal receipt) to 500 TPH one conveyor (feeding to boiler) + remaining 2000 TPH capacity conveyor (to coal stacking). This is required as coal receipt rate can not be lowered below 2000 TPH. Also coal feeding to boiler can not be intrupted and cannot be lowered below 500 TPH.

Can any one guide me or suggest some solutions to overcome this problem of mixed handling.

Regards,

Dear Shri Prashant Kulkarni,

You need a flow divider system which can be comprising of a vibrating feeder (or belt feeder) of 500 mtph placed under hopper cum chute. This will feed 500 mtph in one flow path and balance will automatically flow to other path.

What is the size of coal? I presume it might be crushed coal, possibly (-)100 mm.

Dear Mr. Kulkarni

Their are two common method to split a 2000 t/h flow stream into: a) 500 t/h boiler feed stream and b) remainder onto a stockpile.

OTION 1: Surge bin to split stream between regulated 500 t/h boiler feed and stockpile the remainder

OPTION 2: Chute with variable position flop gate and weigh scale feedback control directing/regulation 500 t/h to boiler feed conveyor and reainder to stockpile.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OPTION 1: Use a 50 ton collection bin to parse to flow rates as follows:

1A. 500 t/h variable speed reclaim belt feeder or vibrating feeder with weigh scale control loop - discharging onto boiler feed belt.

1B. 500 t/h variable speed reclaim integral feeder and reclaim conveyor feeding boiler using weigh scale loop with either variable belt speed or regulating cut-off discharge gate opening.

2. 2000 t/h bypass overflow, which diverts all product not fed to the 500 t/h boiler, onto a transport belt designed to accept 0-2000 t/h.

NOTE: 50T bin can be sized larger to account for circuit interruptions

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OPTION 2: Requires a chute of sufficient height to introduce a flop gate that can bifricate the 2000 t/h flow stream into 500 t/hboiler feed and the remainder to the stockpile. The 500 t/h boiler feed conveyor has a weigh scale feedback loop.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Option 2 is more cost effective but has no surge for downtime conditions. Both are in common use. You must evaluate the option that suites you.
