Thank you for introducing this thread. In the introduction you mention DSI Snakes but the J.A. Dos Santos inventions are much broader than that. They start with the in-depth study, between 1979 and 1981, of the state of the art. This included the then very successful Loop Belt systems for self-unloading ships. The Loop belts were my inspiration. Though limited to a C-shaped profile they were true sandwich belt systems that employed smooth rubber surfaced belts, up to 3048mm (120") wide, and all conventional conveyor components to achieve tonnage rates greater than 10000 t/h, running at speeds of more than 6 m/s. The landmark article "Evolution of Sandwich Belt High Angle Conveyors" by Dos Santos et al 1981, 1982), discloses the Dos Santos Sandwich Belt High Angle Conveyor technology in its completeness, rationalizing the sandwich belt high angle conveyor technology in the conventional conveyor technology.

The J.A. Dos Santos inventions include the HAC system, embodied in the many commercial units during my tenure at Continental Conveyor (1982-1997), and the Snake Sandwich conveyor system (the preferred system, invented in 1980) commercialized by Dos Santos International since 1997.
