Flighting to Move Powder Product

We are installing a auger in our feed mill.

We need to mve a small amount (3 or 4 lbs.) of a mineral mix thru a 6" auger.

We are moving it 30 ft..

The flighting in our current auger is a cupped UHMW.

This auger will not move the product.

Some of the issues are: the auger is not fully charged. We weigh on the small amount and the auger is expected to move this product to the pre-mixer.

The auger needs to cleanout between each load.

The product has a ground pepper/talc powder consistency.

Is there a different type of screw conveyor/flighting that may help us???

Or other options?

Thanks

Feeding only 3-4 lb of bulk material through a 6" screw 30' long is, IMO, not a good way to do it.

I think I'd put a buffer hopper close to the required delivery point for the powder and charge it with the 6" screw conveyor according to high/low level sensors. Then use a short, small metering screw to feed the required amount of powder to the process on a volumetric or gravimetric basis according to the accuracy required.

A screw is not the right method for this distance if the machine has to be cleaned out between each batch as screws are not self clearing and 6" auger cannot span this distance without an intermediate bearing. A vibrator conveyor may be more suitable to self clean and span the length if the material cannot be brought closer to the discharge point. Alternatively, a vacuum sytem will make such a transfer in one go, up to a small vibrating feeder or small screw unit with close clearance and a retractable argur for cleaning.
