Dear Bhatnagar,In the case of dome the ratio is different as compare to cylindrical silo.For clinker you can go up to2,50,000 t cap.,in the case of cylidrical this capacity is restricted to 35,000-40,000 t.There are so many other issues to decide the type of silo,the main one is the bearing capacity of soil,if the bearing capacity is poor it is better to go for dome.

Large storage silo dimensions
I would like to know what is generally the thumb rule to decide H/D ratio of large silos say from 50,000 to 120,000 t of clinker cosidering civil design aspect as well as mechanical. ■
