Effective Internal Friction Angle of Clay

Hi all,

I'm going to analyze settlement of embankment resting on soft clay by some software which need the effective internal friction angle of any clay (soft/very soft/ medium stiff/stiff/very stiff and hard clay).

Please suggest me the way to find that or the possible range .

Internal friction can be determined using Shear cell. Either Jenike or Annular. Generic values are not recommended as there is huge variations for same material. The other point to be noted it that this powder property is greatly dependent on moisture content so keep that in mind when testing for it or

using generic values. ■
