Cement Steel Silo

RESPECTED AHAMAD,

PROVIDING HIGH CAPACITY STEEL SILOS ADJACENT TO PORT IS A DEBATABLE ISSUE BECAUSE--

1.GENERALLY NEAR THE PORTS THE BEARING CAPACITY OF SOIL IS VERY POOR.

2.IF YOU ARE GOING FOR A HIGH CAPACITY STEEL SILO YOUR LIMITS ARE 2000-2500 TONNES,FOR DOME SILO THIS CAN BE VERY HIGH,THE CHEAPEST AND THE BEST SOLUTION WILL BE GOING FOR FLAT STORAGE.THIS ALL DEPEND UPON HOW MUCH BUDGET THE CLIENT HAS.

3.THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER FACTORS LIKE HOW THE UNLOADING IS BEING DONE AT WHAT RATE,METHOD OF DESPATCHING OF CEMENT-BY BULK,BY BAGS,BY BIG BAGS ETC.

WE ARE IN THIS LINE FOR THE LAST 30 YEARS,RECENTLY WE DID THE CEMENT AND CLINKER UNLOADING STATION COPLETE WITH DESPATCH SYSTEM IN BAHRAIN.

Dear Mr. Ahmed

As Mr Libranseth has informed that providing a cement silo at the see port depends mainly on the soil bearing and the nature of the soil , i.e rokky, muddy ,and the depth at the see port .In the case if you want to use the piling , which is very expensive then will be no problem to install any kind of silos

another factor is the type of the material extraction if it will be from silo bottom and under ground - in the case of the rokky soil- or above the ground - in the case of the muddy bearing - .

According to these data the silo capacity will be decided , usually the silo capacity varies between 500 - 2000 tons . The silo height depends on the wind velocity at the selected area . if you feel that you are in need for any further information , please don' t hesitat to ask for .

For steel silos, about 750 to 1000T would be the norm and a 2000T silo would be very large.

U may need to consider fabrication off site and transport to site for erection.

There are silo design guidelines around eg Australian Silo design etc etc.

For smaller silos, U could go to a generic silo design/manufacturer...or try the 2nd hand market ie from batching plants...

Cheers...James

Dear Sir

For loading and unloading of cementyour silo capacity shuld match with you loading and unloading rate of cement. As ship size may be as high as 30000 tm small silos may not serve purpose. you should have quick unloadind and loading facilities at port.

In case space is available complete sytem can be worked out.

you may construct bigger silos rcc/steel on pilling foundation .

rcc silo may be cheaper and can be constructed by slipform shuttering.

The earlier respondents have raised the issue of available space and suitability of the soil at port for constructing silos. Well silos need not be constructed exactly at the sea shore, it can be away by half or one kilometer.

So, important decision would be to decide the size of silos to achieve required storage capacity in conjunction with the capacity of ship. Then, storage facility can be located at appropriate place with the related material handling system. The silo complex will also need space for trucks / wagons arriving, loading of this material into them, their parking and dispatch. So, in all probabilities, it would be convenient to have this somewhat away from the exact port.

Dear Sir,

http://www.dometech.com/assets/collages/cement.pdf

The link above is a resume card of just a few of the Cement Storage facilities we have built. Please see all three pages. Many of them are ports side and can be easily loaded and unloaded quickly with good reclaim equipment. You can also go to http://www.dometech.com/media/media.html and see other types of domes that we have built port side.

The versatility of Dome Storage is demonstrated in the different shapes of the dome and the different reclaim methods that can be used to meet your bulk storage requirements. Whether it is a tall Dome-Silo, a Low Profile flat storage Dome, a hemisphere shaped Dome, or any shape in between, Dome Technology can adapt the structure to fit your needs. Concrete domes are very flexible in both the filling and the reclaim of the stored material. Because of the Domes inherent strength, it can support an in loading conveyor system on top of it. Without internal supports this allows the material to fill the dome through one or more openings in the top of the Dome. The material is then reclaimed using Mechanical Screws, Fluidized Floor, Gravity Reclaim or a Front End Loader.

Dome Technology also has an innovative system to build the tunnels used in the reclaiming or bulk materials handling process allowing the tunnel to be built safely in a rapid and economical manner.

Please visit us at http://www.dometech.com for more info on Dome Technology and the solutions we can provide.
