Hi Members,

I am working on a new project which require to transfer barite powder from the Surge-Silo to the Storage Silo by Pneumatic Conveying.

Horizontal distance: 70M

Vertical distance: 20M

Nos of bends: 5

Bulk density: 2.4 tons / M3

Particle size: 150 microns median

Max. temperature: 80 deg. C

Moisture content: Negligible

Need to calculate air blower capacity, pressure rise, approx. pipe size and the min. conveying line inlet velocity required?

Any suggestions or recommendations on the system would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

Steve,

To get answers to your questions, you can use the calculation method given in my article "Theory and Design of Pneumatic Conveying Systems". To use this method, you will need to know the basics of Excel. I will be glad to send a PDF copy of this article if you send me an email on the address given below.
