Package Rotator?

Posted in: , on 30. Jan. 2008 - 21:40

Hello,

I am a photographer and I am looking at creating a rotating display. I believe that a low weight low rpm packaging device would help. I need 1-2 rpm 500 lbs.

Vehicle turntables are about 15-20k and is more than I need.

Can anyone here help?

Thank you

Rotating Turntable

Your should be able to get a local fabricator to construct a ratating turntable for 4 or 5K. You need a rolled channel ring to the diameter required, to fit toe down and supported on three wheels located to run between the flanges. One of the wheels is mounted on the output shaft of a geared motor. For example, the geared motor output shaft with 150 diameter wheels running in a ring about 1500mm diameter would need to rotate at 20 rpm to give 2 rpm of the turntable. A 0.55 kW drive unit would be more than adequate, so I suggest a drive speed of 60 rpm with an inverter to give a useful range of turntable speeds. Contact lyn@ajax.co.uk if you need a sketch for a small fee.

If you are going to have this custom made, my suggestion would be to specify what speed(s) you want to see for rotation.

Is this to display large pictures you've taken? If so I cannot imagine much of a weight requirement, but this still sounds like a special request to me.
