Design And Manufacture Of Waste
Thanks Marcel,
You raise a very important topic. The packaging industry are the designers and manufacturers of transient waste products. Within minutes of purchase of any fast food item, the packaging becomes a burden on the local municipal clean-up crew. And we must increase our rates and taxes to fund the clean-up and disposal process.
An alternative view of packaging is - WASTE EQUALS FEED - the waste product from one process should become the feed for a roll-on process.
We dispatch tons of aluminium and plastic to third world countries in the form of containers. This should not be looked at as waste. It should be viewed as export of raw material for a roll-on post-processing activity. The packaging should be designed and marketed in a way which makes this aspect of the export industry more readily visible.
The Bionic Research Institute is working together with other groups to address this very issue. Thank you for your timely attempt to raise awareness of this aspect of engineering design and production.

Bio Degradable Packaging Materials
Hi Everybody,
I'd like to share some thoughts, opinions and reports about the use of bio degradable packaging materials in
- bulk packaging
- powder packaging
- food packaging
- beverage packaging
Please post your experience about.
As bio degradable packaging materials will become more and more important within the next years, I think it's about time to discuss this topic in the forum.
All The Best,
Marcel
