Tenova Takraf to supply a new grab shipunloader to ILVA Plant Taranto (Italy)
Genoa, April, 2008 - Tenova Takraf Genoa, new name of the Mining and Bulk Handling Business Unit of Tenova, has won a contract from the leading Italian steel producer Riva Group for the turnkey supply of a grab shipunloader for iron ore and coal to be installed at ILVA plant in Taranto (Italy) .The new unloader will be one of the biggest in the world both in terms of its operating capacity – 3,300 tons per hour -, and its size: it will be able to unload ships of up to 330,000 DWT.
The contract was awarded after fierce competition with the most prestigious European suppliers and it is expected to be operative as from the end of August 2009.
This new order comes downstream the constant dialogue between ILVA and Tenova during the bidding stage so creating operating synergies and mutual understanding with a longstanding and prestigious customer as ILVA is.
