HAZEMAG delivers a crushing plant to Cementos Minetti – Well before Time

HAZEMAG & EPR GmbH has supplied the Argentine company Cementos Minetti in Cordoba not only with a new primary crushing plant but also a secondary crushing plant with screen. Cementos Minetti is part of the Holcim Group. During the handling of the project, HAZEMAG was requested to bring forward the delivery date of the equipment following a sudden rise in the demand for cement.

The plant essentially comprises a feed hopper, a rugged apron feeder and an impact crusher (Fig. 1). The feed material - limestone with an edge length of max. 1.5 m – is processed at a rate of 1,100 t/h. The limestone is a particularly abrasive material and puts great demands on the wear parts of the crusher. One specific measure taken to prolong the life of the blow bars of the HAZEMAG GSK rotor was to increase their mass, which naturally resulted also in a higher moment of inertia of the rotor.

The operator’s request to bring forward the delivery date was met thanks to speedy re-disposition within the manufacturer’s own fabricating facilities. As a result of prudent internal planning coupled with strenuous efforts on the part of the personnel involved, the fabrication of plant components could be brought forward so that they could be dispatched separately in advance; some were even sent by air freight (Fig. 2), a most unusual and obviously expensive method of delivering such large items. In this way, however, the plant parts were made available on site punctually to fit in with the progress of erection of the plant.

The final component to be delivered ahead of time was the rugged GSK rotor, which had to be lowered by crane into the crusher (Figs. 3-6). As soon as it was installed, the plant was put into operation. Thanks to all the effort put into the undertaking, not only was the plant delivered as promised, but also ready for operation much earlier than anticipated.
