Atlas Copco has introduced a new compressor for applications requiring a precise flow and pressure control of oil-free low-pressure air: the ZB VSD - a Variable Speed, Direct Drive oil-free centrifugal compressor. Offering minimum operating costs and the lowest noise levels in the industry, the highly-efficient Atlas Copco ZB VSD is ideal for industrial applications requiring high-quality, low pressure and completely oil-free air.
The ZB VSD is an integrated, single-stage machine capable of delivering 1900-3800 m3/hr oil-free air at operating pressures of 0.5-1.7 bar(g). It is ideal for waste water treatment, fluidization, mixing, aeration, air separation, fermentation, cooling and drying processes.
It is the first Atlas Copco compressor to incorporate a Variable Speed and Direct Drive system. Developed from the proven Variable Speed Drive (VSD), the ZB uses an integrated frequency converter to continuously vary the speed of the direct drive motor to match air output with demand. The result is constant pressure and precise flow control. .
The system also cuts energy consumption significantly. Over a typical life cycle, the ZB VSD will pay for itself in energy savings alone.
The ZB VSD is a complete, integrated package. Connect the power supply, cooling water and the discharge pipe and unit is ready to run.
Because the ZB VSD was designed as a total package, the compressor has no speed windows, is vibration-free and fully compliant with EMC directives (Electro Magnetic Compatible ).
Standard features on the ready-to-use package include the proven Elektronikon® control and monitoring system, an air inlet system, blow-off valve with silencer and a sound attenuating canopy, which reduces noise levels to 67 dB(A).
Maintenance requirements for the ZB VSD are minimal. By absence of a gearbox, this single-stage machine is totally oil-free. Removed also are the parasitic losses associated with the traditional oil-pump, gearbox losses and oil-induced environmental issues.
