Gebr. Pfeiffer Hydrator Utilized at Wisconsin Power and Light’s Edgewater Generating Station to Improve Air Quality
Pembroke Pines, Florida – September 2014 - Wisconsin Power and Light, a subsidiary of Alliant Energy, will install a new AQCS (Air Quality Control System) on Unit 5 at their Edgewater Generating Station located in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
This Air Quality Control Project includes installation of the following:
• a circulating fluidized bed scrubber and baghouse,
•a pebble lime storage silo,
•two pebble lime feed silos,
•one lime hydrator,
•two hydrated lime silos,
•two mechanical exhausters,
• a scrubber byproduct silo,
•haul truck and rail capability for transport of incoming lime and outgoing byproduct,
•additional piping, instrumentation, electrical and operational equipment.

The KLV Hydrator by Geb. Pfeiffer
The Gebr. Pfeiffer KLV 02/630-4.0 hydrator order was placed through Andritz (Columbia, Maryland), who was selected for the design and manufacturing of the scrubber and baghouse portion of the project. The Gebr. Pfeiffer scope will include the KLV 02/630-4.0 hydrator, a weigh feeder and a bag filter for dedusting the hydrator’s exhaust vapors. The KLV 02/630-4.0 hydrator allows for ‘dry injection’ – the process of adding water to pebble lime in order to produce a dry, volume-stable lime hydrate.
Construction of the entire project will run from the spring of 2014 through the fall of 2016.
