Roller conveyor design with servo motor

Posted in: , on 8. Feb. 2006 - 12:02

Hi All,

I want to design the roller conveyor with servomotor. as shown in attachment. what is the minimum size that can be maintained for roller dia.

since our product is 10 thin slits of .02mm each, I want to minimize the gap between two roller as much as possible.

we need to push this slits on to the pallets that will be placed aside this roller. that is the reason for selecting the roller conveyor. if there is a flatbelt conveyor, the pushing mechanism may not work in good manner.

any suggestions regarding this one or any other design ideas?

Thanks in advance.

You might want to look at slave drive for the rollers instead of all the belts and the drive shaft.

Provide a drive on the first roller of the conveyor and mount a double sprocket on one end of the shaft of each roll then chain drive each roller from the one before it. Very simple and easy to maintain.

This is a bulk handling forum.

Your unit load has inadequate rigidity to sit on a belt but can be carried over a series of line contacts? When the pallet friction gets big enough your membrane will buckle and nip twixt the rollers. If not, then we are not getting enough background on this forum; which as mentioned previously is a bulk handling forum.

You should examine the deflected shape of the membrane to determine the roller gap. Then you should consider the discharge regime. Presumably the membrane is light enough to float over the pallet...why not float them all the way all the time?

Mr.Jhongateley,

I thought this forum is for handling.

I have mentioned clearly that why I need roller conveyor.it is not because of inadequate rigidity.

thanks for your suggestions.

OK I tried. Now; the closest you can pitch the rollers as shown is twice the thickness of the drive band + the minimum shaft core that will take the radial/tensile bending loads; disregarding the minimum bend requirements of the bands.
