High Capacity Belt Feeder Design

I am seeking expertise on belt feeders.

The rated capacity is 5000t/h for potash( bd ~ 0.9 t/m3) the length is about 120 feet.

Is it possible to design this type of belt feeder.

Are there any similar installations?

Could anyone please provide some data e.g. belt width, speed etc and typical sketch.

I do not have the exact dimensions of hopper above this feeder. The approx height is 15feet and opening length is 115 feet.

Request for a quick response .

For a start.....

You are quoting bulk density in t/m3 and other quantities in feet.

Please use a single system of units.

With the new improved text toolbar it is now possible to express t/m3 correctly as tm-3.

What can be correct should be correct: then engineers can be taken seriously once more!

Belt Feeder - Long Slot

Are you seeking feed advice on a long slolt belt feeder or are you willing to pay for a prudent design?

Are you serious that the opening, (outlet ?), length of the hopper 15 feet deep is 115 feet? I would think that the whole concept needs looking at.

Better provide constructive answer rather than pointing minor stuff.

Dear Bhatnagar,

Belt feeders of 5000TPH should be feasible.I know belt feeder installations for 4000TPH of coal, working satisfactorily for the last 10 years in India.

They are installed below Track hoppers for BOBRN wagon unloading.

Quick answer..

Yes you can do it with a belt feeder.

Its at the upper end of such a feeders limit, but can be done.

Outlet hopper geometry somewhat crucial.

Hi Nordell,

At this time I am looking for some guidance if such feeder is viable and some examples so as I can go ahead with my preliminary layout and design. However I will definitely be looking for the expert services later to do the detail design and of course this will be adequately compensated.

Ash

Dear Shri Ashwani Bhatnagar,

Hopper outlet length is too long even with gradually expanding skirt board or step-wise expanding feed zone. You can also think about few belt feeders or vibrating feeders discharging onto the conveyor below (in lieu of such a long belt feeder), which will be economical and will require somewhat more height (but not quite large).

Other option is to use traveling type paddle feeder which is regularly used for 15 – 20 feet (4.6m – 6m) deep hopper, having outlet length ranging from 25 m to 200 m, 300 m and so on. Such arrangement is working at hundreds of coal handling plants at power stations in India.

What Is The Belt Feeder?

Dear Sir,

I am puzzuled that what the belt feeder you said is.We normally export our corn starch ,dextrose monohydrate, maltodextrin to many countries, and packed this product with pp woven bag or bulk bag, I think the belt means on the bulk bag, and also called loop, is it right?
