Project Manager - Materials Handling

Description:

Sandvik Mining and Construction, the world’s leading supplier of drilling and excavation machinery, equipment and tools for mining and construction industries, is currently looking for a Project Manager for Materials Handling projects, based in Surrey, British Columbia. This position entails hands-on experience working with our cutting edge products including everything from conveyor systems to bucket wheel loaders, as well as daily interaction with key customers and suppliers. Key performance areas:

In this key role, the Project Manager's responsibilities will include:



  • Leading the project team and acting as a mentor and coach for junior project team members in order to secure the best possible performance of the project teams.

  • Organizing and executing the project kick off meeting to ensure that all needed information and data from sales to execution team will be available and transferred with relevant documentation.

  • Implementing continual improvement through monitoring the project results and being proactive in developing strategies/procedures in conjunction with the Director of Projects for better implementation.

  • Establishing quotations for contract variations and claims to the client.

  • Planning and maintaining a resource plan for the project and communicating to team members and department heads.

  • Participating in major procurement activities to ensure that obligations of the customer contract are transferred to suppliers.

  • Developing and maintaining a good relationship with the client and ensuring that the client will be satisfied with result of the project.



Your profile:

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in mechanical, structural, or other related engineering field, as well as have 10 years of experience in the mining or heavy processing industry in a technical, engineering, or project management capacity. Prior knowledge of materials handling equipment is also preferred. In order to perform well in this role, the selected candidate must also have highly developed communication skills, strong leadership and organization skills, as well as an ability to work as a member of and lead a cross-functional team.
