Utilization of Fly Ash in India

Posted in: , on 17. Jan. 2013 - 19:13

We want to share some facts about latest development in FLY ASH Industries in India with Hon. experts of this forum.

India has consumed about 450 million tonne per year of coal in power sector last year and this will increase by 800 million ton per year by 2016-17. Now, we have problems of utilization of about 120 million ton (at present) . There are technologies, where we can use 75%of processed fly ash in making bricks, blocks, slabs, light weight boulder to be used in cement concrete and in other valuable products. India, uses about 300 billion bricks made of clay and most of them are produced by un organised sectors, these clay bricks are of bad quality. In one of the states of India, Govt. tried to banned clay bricks but due to non availability of fly ash bricks they will have to shelved that ban. So, there is an opportunities for companies who deals with such type of technologies. We can share our 36 years of exposure to interested companies who wanted to enter in this field and can provide detailed feasibility study which will give latest information about latest happenings in this sector. One more interested information about fly ash-Now, some of the power producing companies in north India are charging rupees 400 (US$ 8) for each tonne of fly ash because they know the value of fly ash which can be used with 20% of cement and other additives to get the rate equal to 4000 rupees(US $ 80) per tonne.

We can also arrange huge quantity of fly ash of best quality to cement producing companies in Gulf at a very competitive rates on long term basis.

Just to add toppings on my facts. World's renowned companies like HESS, PRIMA making good business in India. We can share our experience with world's best machinery suppliers for making -Aerated block,Conc blocks, slabs, curbs ect. Please note that more then 300 billion bricks are being made from clay(upper crust of earth) and very soon this is going to stop. We have detailed feasibility for launching similar type of products in India's vast market. We will provide details- about name of competitor, market size, type of products which has great values and help them to secure orders.

Utilization Of Fly Ash In India

Dear Mr. Seth,

You raised a very perspecive yet, sensitive issue.

We are a Finnish engineering company focusing on waste streams utilization and have a lot of knowledge on fly ash.

Yet most of the Indian companies who approach us for consultations/solutions refuse to acknowledge that there are NO "ready from the shelf" solutions

since fly ash properties differ from deposit to deposit. (maybe some goverment funding is needed to provide a GIS roadmap of fly ash deposits, chemical mineral content

and possible applications)

Research has to be performed for specific fly ash deposit, application and cost efficiency considerations (since Indian market is price sensitive, most of the time you

cannot use expensive chemical additives, and have to look for what other local waste streams that could provide a cost efficient substitute.)

We have the mechanical and chemical knowledge to:

1] Substitute cement with fly ash up to 50%

2] Use high calcium fly ashes

3] Use fly ash for large scale production of NON autoclaved cellular concrete blocks and partitions

4] Production of light expanding aerated clay like products from fly ash

5] Provide cost efficient production technology of micronized binders (cement, slag) or pozzolans in industrial scale capacities

Utilization Of Fly Ash In India

Dear Ezry Akkerman, I appreciate your reservations.Yesterday, I was heading a panel of experts during Fly Ash utilization seminar at New Delhi and collected lot of datas and facts about the whole Industry. Frankly speaking, now, major private players have come in this field to make huge money out of this and ready to pay for the new technologies. As I mentioned in my last mails that brick Industry in India is in the hand of small suppliers but cover more then 90% of the entire demand,so they do not want to go for R&D. Even bigger players who have just venture in this race and bought machines are facing the problems of exact mixture.I have fair idea about the companies who are willing to invest in R&D and have respect for the companies like you. I can even introduce your company to TATAS, world's most reputed company who are making steel and have lot of by products.Let us join hands and do something which will be beneficial for all.

Utilization Of Fly Ash In India

Posted on 19. Feb. 2013 - 11:17

Dear Mr. Seth,

Utilizing our air separators (P90-95=10-12 micron with average size 3-4 micron, at feed capacities up to 25 tons/hour)

and our chemical activation techniques we can expect maximal cement substitution rate of 50%, (depending on mineral/chemical composition of fly ash).

Also high calcium fly ash application is possible, avoiding the free CaO problem.

Right now we test bottom ash, at 30% fly ash (low calcium) substitution and we get 19% over the control samples in mortar test.

Kind Regards

Demand For Fly Ash Bricks In India

Posted on 4. Dec. 2014 - 01:12

Very well said about feature of fly ash bricks in India. Of course, in most of the states government planned to ban clay bricks. Because, clay bricks require plastering and heavier in weight. Thermal conductivity & water absorption for clay bricks are 1.25 – 1.35 W/m2 ºC & 20-25%, whereas thermal conductivity & water absorption for fly ash bricks are 0.90-1.05 W/m2 ºC & 6-12%.

Fly Ash bricks are alternative to burnt clay bricks in the construction sector in India. Fly ash bricks are nowadays mostly used for construction and gaining its popularity over builders and engineers because of its high strength, uniformity and less consumption of mortar plastering. Great future for fly ash brick manufacturer in India for coming decade.
