Then, the day was welcome as the birth of Rulmeca Tianjin, the 11th manufacturing facility of the Rulmeca Group in the world and the second in Asia, a natural development following Rulmeca important geographic expansion strategy in the world.
The growth and opening of China economy offer enormous opportunity to multinational companies like Rulmeca. For Rulmeca that has made of the internalization a must in the last 10 to 15 years, China could not stay out the view.
The strategic choice to open a manufacturing facility in China for Rulmeca comes from far away.
The Rulmeca programme in China has long roots as it started in 1985 when the company closed licence agreements with 3 Chinese companies. But then times were not matured enough for both China and Europe.
Rulmeca was also supplying rollers to the European Engineering Companies building complete plants in China but in the end it was decided it was time to be present with its own Production Unit in China.
The right location for the new facility was found in Tianjin, not too far from the capital city of Beijing, close enough to the Port for export and close to many customers.

The new facility in Tianjin will strengthen Rulmeca position in Asia and will provide a platform for continued growth in the region. Rulmeca strategy is crystal clear: The Company will produce top quality, world class rollers and motorized pulleys for the bulk handling industries from coal mining to cement plants, from fertiliser plants to sugar and rice mills, from seaports to airports. So the main target for Rulmeca in China is to develop the domestic market, to gain the confidence of industries as equipment manufacturers, engineerings and end users in between the Chinese customers.
The Rulmeca Group will bring into this new Rulmeca initiative in China the traditional spirit and corporate culture, based on professional skills, commitment to succeed, attention to the customers and passion for the job but on the same time based on Rulmeca values for honesty, respect for environmental aspects and attention for all the employees and workers safety, health and workplace conditions.
After all the speeches the programme continued with a traditional ceremony with the ribbon cut, lions dancing and a visit to the production facility.
Later all the guests moved to the Sheraton Hotel in Tianjin with a buffet lunch and a show of the Beijing Opera.
After the lunch all the present people were invited to a conference in the Hotel where the Rulmeca Group structure and products were presented into details with specific case histories about the worldwide applications.

Grand Opening Ceremony of Rulmeca Tianjin – China, May 22nd 2008
Rulmeca, the international leading manufacturer of rollers and motorized pulleys for belt conveyors, celebrated the opening of the Rulmeca manufacturing Unit in China in Tianjin on the 22nd of May 2008.
In front of about 80 guests, including customers, suppliers, local authorities and all the Rulmeca Group Board of Directors, Rulmeca celebrations started with the speeches of Mr. Seng Kwang Heng, Asia Pacific M.D., Mr. Emilio Moreschi, President of Rulmeca Group, Mr. Fabio Ghisalberti, Managing Director of Rulli Rulmeca, Mr. Goh Ching Beng, General Manager of Rulmeca Tianjin and Mr. Li Wen Yong, the XEDA Labor Committee Deputy Secretary.
In the name of Rulmeca Mr. Emilio Moreschi first expressed condolences to the victims of the strong earthquake that hit the Sichuan area and supported the earthquake victims with a donation.
