SPECIALTY MINERALS INC. RECEIVES AWARD FOR OLDEST OPERATING RAYMOND® ROLLER
MILL
Lisle, Il - Raymond® Roller Mills were developed in the late 1800's and since then more than 2000 mills have been supplied. Because the mills have proven to be rugged and dependable, a service life in excess of 50 years is not uncommon despite their harsh working environment. Recently, Alstom Power, Air Preheater Co.,Raymond Operations held a contest to find the oldest operating Raymond Roller Mill.
Specialty Minerals Inc. of Adams, MA was named contest winner for their 1918 - 50" Raymond Roller Mill that was shipped on May 13,1918 to New England Lime Company in West Stockbridge MA.
Stephen B. Denton (Vice President Raymond Operations) presents Patrick Smelko, Specialty Minerals, Adams MA with award plaque and certificate for $5,000 credit towards parts and/or service.
A typical Raymond® Roller Mill system is designed to dry, pulverize, classify and collect any number of different kinds of material, usually non-metallic minerals. From a feed ranging insize from approximately 1/2" to 1 1/2", the roller mill can product particles ranging from course, granular products to approximately 90% minus 10 mesh to as fine as 99.98% minus 325 mesh.
