Motion Metrics' President's Message - January 2014

As each year goes by and we all mature further, we tend to look back at the previous year and see how life unfolded and what was achieved. This January is no exception. 2013 marked a record year for Motion Metrics in various aspects. After years of research and development, we have introduced ShovelMetrics™ to the mining market and shipped our very first systems. I am quite excited about this new development. ShovelMetrics™ brings a world of opportunities to our customers and is the first of Motion Metrics’ next-generation products to hit the market. I am very eager to receive feedback from our customers who will be using this powerful system. Furthermore, LoaderMetrics™ made its debut, beginning with missing tooth detection and camera-based surveillance for wheeled loaders. LoaderMetrics™ is poised for a rapid expansion of features, and customer response will determine the focus going forward. Another exciting development was our all-in-one sensor fusion product for conveyor belts: BeltMetrics™. To our best knowledge, this is the only product on the market capable of sensing fragmentation, volume, payload, and belt displacement in a one-stop solution. We also commercially rolled out our centralized mine management product MetricsManager™ which is now being used by our biggest customer: a large copper mine with 20+ mining shovels equipped with Motion Metrics systems. In 2013 we participated in a record number of tradeshows worldwide with various equipment models outfitted to demonstrate our products. We also had a record number of patent applications in 2013 and were awarded our very first US patent. 2013 also brought record revenue and we expect further acceleration of our revenue in 2014 with expansion of our customer base as well as our offerings.

We could have not reached these exciting milestones without support and encouragement from our valued customers and suppliers worldwide. So, here is a big THANK YOU to both.

Looking forward, 2014 is as exciting as one could reasonably expect. After offering our legacy systems for the past 10+ years, our existing customers will have the opportunity to upgrade to ShovelMetrics™ and we have established a roadmap to make this transition as smooth and as cost-effective to our end-users as possible. We are also expanding our workforce in various departments of Motion Metrics to better support our clients. Innovation is at its peak in our organization now as we have resolved various technical and structural bottlenecks. We are also expanding our reach in various geographical locations (Peru, Chile, Australia, Brazil, and China). We began the process of establishing ISO compliance in 2013 and expect to become an ISO 9001:2008 certified organization later this year. In 2013, we were invited to join the Situation Awareness Working Group of the Global Mining Standards Guidelines Group (GMSG) and have since been an active member of this innovative, industry-leading effort. In 2014, we have plans to actively participate in 12 mining conferences and tradeshows worldwide. In particular, we will be unveiling a revolutionary portable monitoring device for blast engineers and the technical crew at mines at the upcoming ISEE tradeshow in Denver, USA, in February. Finally, make sure to keep an eye on our upcoming press releases as we will be soon announcing an important partnership to bring Wearable Computing to our suite of monitoring solutions. Recent surveys show that Wearable Computing is slated to increase workforce productivity significantly in the coming years and we are excited to be one of the first mining technology development companies to offer such solutions. 2014 will be full of announcements, so be sure to check www.motionmetrics.com for the latest news.
