Ship Unloading Crane in Malaysia
Travel of 441 m on a ship unloading crane in Malaysia
The location is a modern coal power plant, newly constructed by TNB Jana Manjung in Lumut, Malaysia. The coal for the power plant is supplied by ships. To allow further processing, docking stations were established on a man-made island situated approximately 2 km off shore; ships docked here are handled by 2 large unloading units. These unloading units each have a travel of 441 m and were built by Koch in Wadgassen, Germany.
The installation is operated by Lekir Bulk Terminal Sdn Bhd.
The installation features the following "long travel" applications:
Cross travel of 441.3 m
(chain type: Rol-E-Chain 5050R.28.300)
- Chain lengths: 222.89 m
- Acceleration: 0.1 m/s2
- Speed: 30 m/min
igus® Energy Chains® are filled with medium-voltage lines of type CF Crane 50/6.6/10KV and CF Crane 35/6.6/10KV, fibre optic cable with 6 fibers 62.5/125 and a fine-spray water hose used to minimize the generation of dust during the unloading process.
