Gough Engineering Swinglink Bucket Elevator

An international speciality minerals producer requiring a conveyor system to move bentonite from a ground floor production area to the second floor has chosen a Gough Engineering Swinglink Bucket Elevator for the application.

As there was already a restricted amount of space available in an already crowded factory floor; therefore a bucket elevator was required to work around the current factory layout whilst being able to maintain high throughput levels.

Together with engineers from Amcol Minerals Europe, Gough Engineering’s senior application engineers supplied a Swinglink Bucket Elevator for the duty with a throughput of up to 20 tonnes per hour. The 12m in height bucket elevator included stainless steel, heavy duty chain that run at speeds of 15m per minute. The ‘one-in one-out’ Z shape design is used as a simple means of vertically conveying product.

Other inclusions with the Swinglink included an anti run back fitting to maintain the security of the product when the bucket elevator is stopped for production reasons. The unit also includes dust extraction spigots built into the casing to avoid any static build up in the elevator, and with a inspection door in the vertical leg of the elevator, the bucket elevator meets above and beyond the health and safety requirements.

The surface-treated bentonite is used to soften clothes in laundry detergents; Gough bespoke plastic buckets were specified to deal with this sort of product. Gough has worked on numerous applications within the Chemicals industry in recent years with its range of specifically designed materials handling equipment.
