US-Chinese JV orders DBT

Shanxi Asian American-Daning Energy Company (SAADEC), the Chinese joint venture company owned 56% by Asian American Coal, Inc. (AACI) – the first modern-day foreign company to receive a license from the Chinese government to mine coal in China – has ordered three belt systems from DBT America as well as a large volume of conveyor components from sister company DBT China.

DBT America will supply one 1800 mm slope belt system with two 1600 kW Fluid Coupling Drives, one 1600 mm belt system for the Main West heading with two 400 kW TPKL fill-controlled turbocoupling drives, and a 1400 mm panel belt system with three 400 kW TPKL drives. The order also includes remote discharges, take-ups and a hydraulic winch storage unit.

Conveyor components ordered from DBT China comprise 903 m CEMA E floor-mounted structure for the slope, 487 m CEMA E roof-hung structure for the Main West heading, and 2752 m of CEMA D catenary structure for the panel.

The equipment is destined for the new Daning longwall mine to be operated by the joint venture company SAADEC. The company has a license from the Chinese government to develop and operate a mine at Daning with reserves of 170 million tonnes. Located near Jincheng City, Shanxi province, some 360 miles southwest of Beijing, the mine targets annual production of 4 million tonnes.

Gary F. Ladd, CEO of Asian American Coal, welcomed the decision: "We are pleased that the SAADEC joint venture has reached agreement to source these belt systems from DBT, as it is one of the final steps in our drive toward full production later this summer."
