To secure mass flow and provide a consistent feed of powder, Ajax designed the screw feeder and two stage plane flow hopper to work together. The interface between a hopper and screw feeder is key for mass flow as material extraction must occur over the whole cross section of the outlet.
The equipment’s design was adapted for the USA from a hopper and screw feeder recently supplied by Ajax Equipment to expand Atomising Systems’ production capacity at its Sheffield, UK site.
Commenting, Craig Winfield, Project Manager at Atomising Systems Limited, said, “We’ve used Ajax on several occasions for screw feeders and mass flow hoppers and so when this new requirement came up, we were happy to work with Ajax again and have not been disappointed.”
“When Atomising Systems approached us it was clear the turnaround required would be challenging. However, we have developed an excellent working relationship with Atomising Systems over many years and so we were happy to go the extra mile to adapt the previous equipment’s design to meet the relevant dust hazard standards in the USA which were NFPA 70 NEC class II, division 2, group F and G,” said Eddie McGee, managing director, Ajax Equipment.
