TAKRAF completes major Stacker Project in Mexico replacing Equipment in under three Days

Edited by mhd on 21. Jun. 2023
Leipzig, GermanyTAKRAF USA completed the replacement of a 6,000 t/h rail-mounted stacker within the  three days required by the contract with the client, despite extremely demanding conditions. These included construction of the new stacker being carried out at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic and during challenging climatic conditions, including a hurricane.

In addition, since the operation was in production 24/7, the new machine had to be constructed on an operating conveyor, feeding into an operating plant.

The contract was awarded to TAKRAF USA in 2019 by an existing client in south Mexico for the replacement of an existing stacker at its operations plant. It followed an earlier project, awarded in 2015, for the same client where a new ship loader, also designed by TAKRAF USA, replaced the existing machine, with the disassembly process also completed within the same tight 3-day period.

The scope of the project covered the design, fabrication and supply, construction, commissioning and start-up of the replacement stacker, together with disassembly and removal of the existing stacker (supplied by another OEM). With the Caribbean Sea lying directly East, TAKRAF was tasked with designing a robust machine that can operate in a hot, humid and corrosive environment, and in high-velocity winds.
Disassembly on site was able to be completed in just 2.5 days due to TAKRAF’s technical experience, work planning and execution competencies, skills that our client was well acquainted with from previous projects.

Steffen Gjorvad, President TAKRAF USA, had this to say recently regarding this unique project: “We are proud to have received further work from an existing client as testimony to their satisfaction, not only with our advanced technologies, but also with our ongoing commitment to the highest standards of client service and project delivery. In this regard, the contributions of our TAKRAF Director of Service & Parts, the entire TAKRAF USA engineering and purchasing groups and other stakeholders must be acknowledged, thank you.”
