We provide wear resistance solution of many wearing components without failure against severe abrasive attack and abnormal loading condition in raw material handling by fixing laminated plate or bar of Chrome –Molybdenum white iron with Chromium 14 to 18%and Molybdenum 2.5 to 3.5 %, metallurgical bonded to a mild steel backing plate. The bond joint is strong metallurgical bond with > 33,000 psi . The chrome –Molybdenum white iron wear layer is completely through hardened (i.e. no soft center or back) in the heat treatment process, to a hardness of 700 Brinell, 64 Rockwell C.

It seems stainless steel buckets would be the right solution. You have non-abrasive material, but it is hot and steamy (water condensation), so criterion is to have anti-corrosive property.
Also, your material being non-lumpy, you will not need expensive thick buckets.
However, check with bucket manufacturers and evaluate their suggestions.

Our experience has been with both flaked wheat, corn & milo. We use stainless steel in this type application. ■
Plastic Buckets
Dear Mr Uthman
I can understand your hesitancy regarding plastic elevator buckets, but the correct type will give you excellent service.
Please let me know the size required (width, projection and depth), the tonnes per hour of the barley handled and the speed of the belt (metres/second) if possible.
Plastic buckets are not only non-corroding, but would give less sticking of the product in the bucket, and be lighter weight on the belt.

Buckets handling steamed Barely
Has anyone a previous experience in proccesing Animal Flaked Barely ?
My problem in finding the best type of Buckets to be used in the Elevator immediatly after the Flaking Mill. The product is wet Flaked Barely Almost 16% moisture and high temp. steam , almost
85 Degrees Celcius .
The original buckets were mild steel last only for few months.
I am still hesitant to go for plastic or galvanized . ■
