Dear All,

Please inform us skirt material to prevent dust in receiving chute station. Are the skirts including consumable material and how many time are we replacing it regularly.

Also we would like to know supplier of skirt material.

Dear Sir

Fugitive dust, at load points, can be controlled in three ways:

1. Curved Chute Configuration:

Dont generate pneumatic pressure gradient. The granular flow stream creates the turbulence during ore free fall between head discharge pulley and receiving conveyor. Gravity acceleration during free fall then quick deceleration during impact first sucks in gas into flow stream then expuges gas on impact. We can quantify the gas turbulence gradient throughout the chute volume. Curved chute geometry significantly reduces the stream velocity gradient and thereby pneumatic plunging.

2. Sealing Skirt

Dont allow belt to lose contact skirt rubber. This is accomplished with a special load point design we have implemented in hard rock. The design combines the concept of a slider bed with a roller bed. We only use the slider under the skirt. The impact table still uses rollers. The slider bed does not allow the belt to vertically displace but can articulate along the plane of the belt wing roll support. No spillage and no dust.

3. Dust Collection

Suck it and see - no dust just big expense to install and maintain.

Dear Achmad,

I presume that you want to contain dust with skirting, not eliminate it. To do this a system approach is best. That is, do not just look at the skirting -- but examine chuite design, drop height, impact system (idlers, slider bed, combination, etc.), dust shields, venting, etc.

I suggest that you contact Martin Engineering for design concepts at or companies such as ContiTech, Rema, or Pang,. The last three companies all manufacture high quality skirting material.

If you have experience rapid skirting wear, it could be due to your skirting arrngement, or it could be due to the use of an inferior skirting rubber.
