Re: Ep-Type Belt Characteristic
Unless you have high impact forces the EP belt should be suitable for your coal handling conveyors. The EP belt will have less stretch than the all nylon belt.

Re: Ep-Type Belt Characteristic
Dear David,
How much "high impact" for EP should it be?
And how should it be compare with NN?
Thanks & Best Regards

Re: Ep-Type Belt Characteristic
Irfan,
How much impact do you have i.e. what is the maximum lump size and what is the drop height in the transfer chutes. Both belt types are of the multiply type with the EP belt using a fabric with Polyester strands for the longitudinal direction (warp) and Nylon strands for the transverse direction (weft), the NN belt uses Nylon strands in both the warp and the weft. Nylon is a trademark of DuPont, its chemical name is Polyamide hence the European identification of P for what others call NN.
The elastic modulus of Nylon being significantly lower than that for Polyester hence the stretch problem. However the low elastic modulus of Nylon makes it best for high impact. Belting manufacturers can use various weaves including a crowsfoot weave, which I believe is good for impact.
Your belting supplier should be able to advise you on which type is most suitable. If you have a narrow belt with 45 degree troughing idlers you may find that the EP belt will be stiffer and will not sit in the trough as well when the belt is empty. Once again the belt supplier will have recommendations for the maximum number of plies for satisfactory troughing.
If the stretch problem has only recently occured after a long time of operation; check that your gravity take-up mechanism is working freely. If a take-up has high resistance to movement it can induce additional belt stretch.

Dave Beckley. ■
Re: Ep-Type Belt Characteristic
Belt Conveyor that we use ;
-Belt width : 2000 mm
-Belt total lenght : 615 meter
-Lift : 14.18 meter
-Belt speed : 3.03 m/s
-Capacity : 3500 ton/h
-Throughing angle : 35 degree
-Surcharge angle : 20 degree
-Weight of material (coal) per meter :
0.64 ton/m
-Drop height : 5 meter, with 2 transfer
chutes
-TakeUp : Vertical Gravity, with 9000
mm TakeUp Travel
Could you please help us, any suggestion witch type of belt that should be the best choices for our BeltConveyor it will be ?
Looking forward for your reply.
Thanks & Best Regards.

Re: Ep-Type Belt Characteristic
Irfan,
What you are now asking for falls in to the category of requesting free consulting services and that is not the purpose of this forum.
From what you have told me an EP belt should be satisfactory but it would be necessary to carry out a power and belt tension analysis prior to recommending the correct belt strength and cover thickness.
If you do require engineering sevices please contact me directly by email to david.beckley@cdcwa.com.au and I will see if I can help you.

Ep Conveyor Belt
Polyester Canvas Conveyor Belt
The polyester conveyor belt is also called EP conveyor belt. It's framework material is the polyester canvas interwoven with meridian terylene and latitudinal polyamide fiber. It is characterized with excellent endurance, good water-resistance, no lowering of strength in humidity, mildew-proof, and high load of initial models. It is applicable to convey materials in medium and long distance, with high-load, and at high speed.

Do you have comparison information about those two kinds of type, EP-belt VS NN-belt ?
Comparison about their each belt-constructions, their each characteristics, and their each physical properties ?

Dear Irfan,
We have more than 20 years manufacturing experience for conveyor belts. We are ISO9001:2000 certificated bySGS and we are the only China manufacture who gets the US-MSHA certificate(certifivate No.: 18-CBA050004/001) in the America.
Generally speaking, many coal mining clients would like to use EP type to convey the coals, not the NN type.
If you need high adhension and strong elongationg ,we do suggest you'd better choose DIN W grade . and DINW is very popular in coal mine conveyor systems.
Hope that we could give you some useful reference.Anything we can help, pls feel free to let us know.
