Smart Stacking Control System Ideas

Hi All,

We have a simple stacking and reclaiming system as follows:

Travelling tripper with slew boom conveyor (luffing).

Static stockpile about 60m long - very high grade limestone...40x10mm

Static (gravity) recalim rill gate type feeders x 3 feeding convetional belt conveyor.

The pile is reclaimed using the static feeders and FEL to top up the pile above the openings in the floor.

The issue is the stacker postioning wrt pile height.

This is currently done manually ie we need a person to move the stacker to a good postion where there pile is not high.

This requires resources whihc we would like to eleimate by auotmating the stacker movement.

The issue is that the pile surface will change ie conventional, inverted and with "lips" - all depending upon what has been reclaimed where and what has been stockpile on where and when.

I am thinking that we need a radar of sorts that is mounted on the boom tip (linked to boom angle) and scans the pile to get a shape profile...then work out where next to move the stacker.

We do not wnat to stop the inloading process during the stacker re-postioning as this effects the no. of motor starts in the conveuor system - inloading and increases train unloading time.

Comments and suggestions pls on a robust and reliable system that will do the trick.

Thanks

James Morrish
