One way to measure the segregating potential of a powder is to rotate a sample in an inclined drum for about 12 revolutions and take out the ‘front’ half of the pile for comparison with the original composition. ( 50% of the distance from the tip of the repose pile – not 50% of the total volume). For the filling process, it may be best to deliver the two ingredients to the container through a static mixer, as this will ensure the inlet stream is correctly proportioned, and spread this into the container to prevent 'repose slope' segragtion occuring. ■
