Separation of Manganese

Posted in: , on 17. Feb. 2009 - 06:04

Dear Sir,

We are mining manganese in Indonesia and the ore is float ore and contains manganese upto 45%. We need to separate this by a process either by floatation or by roll seperators.

Could anyone suggest a suitable process and offer equipment for the same.

Thanks and regards

' pagi,

Flotation would seem to be your better method.

Drum separator manufacturers have poor delivery schedules and offer very poor support. Any principal supplier will probably have to refer your enquiry to the Australian office who could not serve the local market properly; with or without the mythical demand surge from China. It isn't rocket science to quantify the equipment if you know the throughput and hydraulic loading. Unfortunately manufacturers' seem to think it is (rocket science); probably because they use words like Nyobium & Zirconium. I always suspected that those expensive elements were the reason for the extraordinary long lead times for the equipment.

Flotation cells will be available sooner; dosing & feed rates can be controlled easier & more accurately by turning a few valves.

If you have to alter drum separators there is only so much you can do with belts and pulleys against a fixed feed rate.

But see what offers come down in the shower.

Density Separation

I believe this job would probably be best suited to what we call a DENSITY SEPARATOR.

a company I worked for used to peddle this device and actually in its proper niche market did a wonderful job, basically by gravity separation by difference in specific gravity of different type of intermingled materials.

BASICALLY, SIMPLY .......the principle is a sink float device, vs say a aggregate classification tank.

TRY THIS LINK for more specific information.....a GOOD company who may or may not be able to help you. ASK for TOM.

hoping this is helpful.
