Inline sample splitter

Posted in: , on 19. Jun. 2006 - 22:08

We have a good sampling system to sample fertilizers on a belt system.

To increase our sample frequency we would like to sample every 5 minutes. To be able to retain the samples we need to split our samples from about 500-600 g to several 25 g streams.

Any suggestions ?

Gentlemen

Dear mr Thony

In your case you need:

1, A sample collector, collecting a large amont of sample,

2 A dosing device, belt or vibrator to ensure correct feed of the splitter (important).

3 A turntube sample splitter, (adjustable) with sufficiant range in the area of splitting.

4. A device to get the reject ,material back to th main stream.

Thanks for your reply

Agree on all points

We are using a Retch splitter that can devide the sample, but the feeding of the splitter is giving us problems. Current vibrator is breaking down every month and needs to be replaced (3000 euro a month). I am not sure that a belt will give a representive feed to the splitter.

Dear mr Thony

I can recomend the belt feeder for your application.

I have done several sytems for feeding Retch dividers PT 50 and PT 75. for coal sampling (Power plants) and other products as Salt, iron ore and iron ore pellets

A can recomend a 400 mm wide belt with 25 deg. idlers

Provide the belt vith side guard roller. It is dificult to control the belt at low speed.

It is important to keep the belt speed very low 0,01 m/sec and a chute with a thin but high opening for the outlet.

Furthermore you must provide it with a front scraper in PUR for cleaning the belt and ensure that the cleaning mateial belonging to the sample get into the main chute and the divider. Altso the angle of the chute must be done over 60 deg to ensure emptying and stainless steel to avoid stocking.

This was used for extremely wet coal under difficult conditions as cold -40 deg.c. with good results and reliance accepted by the power plants.
