A few months ago on this site, I mentioned some of my PhD work in

quantifying the bulk behavior of granular materials. For those that are

interested, my PhD thesis is titled "Characterization of Bulk Material Behavior for Granular Materials"

by James H. Cain, 1996, University of Rochester, Rochester, NY.

In addition to more than a dozen techniques for analyzing the flowability of powders rangingsize from wheat flow (45 microns) to mustard

seeds (2000 microns), this paper also provides techniques for analyzing flow via compressibility, Hausner Ratio, Angle of Repose, ated and Tap Density, shear, particle size, morphology and other techniques.

More recently, I have designed a calibrated air puff system that quantifies the dustability of a powder.

I would be very intered in finding some technical consulting opportunities for utilizing some of these techniques.

Dear DR. Cain

Our company is developing mathematical modeling tools to assess various granular dynamic problems. We have developed a 3-D non-spherical granular discrete element method(DEM) without and with breakage so far to 500,000 particles w/fluid. Charaterization of surface properties, time based(relaxation)elasto-plastic constitutive makeup, et.al. are of special interest. If you have such interest to collaborate please contact me by email or phone 360/671-2200. We are located in Bellingham, Washington.

I am interesing in analyzing the flowability of powders. If it is possible, could you please send me these chapters of your PhD thesis by e-mail.

Thank you in advance
